Brillians – Compliments / Praise from the Actual Users
The following are unsolicited comments/compliments from users and management who participated in the VISN-10 Super-user Trainings (Dec. ’19 and Jan. ‘20). “SupraVISTA” App was renamed to “Brillians” years ago but the old name has stuck. (Emphasis added to highlight key issues in the long emails.)
From a Service Chief, Specialty Medicine, VISN-10 (12/27/19): “decreases workload!!”
I was delighted and very impressed by Brillians last week. I feel that it will not only help streamline providers’ workstreams (making this the only initiative I can recall that decreases provider workload), but it should contribute materially to such major VA goals as Access, Veteran Experience, Safety, Regulatory Compliance, and also allow easier billing for financial stewardship benefits.
From Chief of Quality and Performance VISN-10 (1/28/20): “Very efficient”
I like SuperVista, and all of my QM staff have received the training, it is a very efficient tool, which can reduce ton of time in search information in CPRS.
From a PC Provider, VISN-10 (1/6/20): Efficiency and user acceptance
If anyone is interested in getting access to Supravista (which is awesome) let me know and I can get you registered. This takes less than 5 minutes… Supravista is a program that … will save you so much time! It pulls up anything you might want to know about the patient, i.e. colonoscopy reports, imaging, screenings, labs… without having to click through multiple locations on CPRS. I have been using it for a couple weeks now and it is amazing!!

SupraVista appears to be a very useful application. It immediately provides all the info regarding a searched condition and alerts a provider to deficiencies.
I was surprised to know this has existed since 2005, because if I had known about this, it would have greatly facilitated the chart reviews I’ve conducted over the years. Thanks for this opportunity to discover this application.

From C&P Provider VISN-10 (2/26/20): Cuts down chart review time to half
The Vista BrillIans system is amazing! I have been able to set up all of my exams for tomorrow and have reviewed all of the service treatment records for each of them. I was able to find imaging, labs, and EMGs. I was able to set up a total of 9 and complete examinations in approximately 45 minutes. This would’ve taken me a good hour and a half otherwise. Please pass my enthusiasm and gratitude on to the designers. This is BrillianTTTT!

Background: A provider failed to follow up on elevated PSA back in Feb. 2017. No one found the issue over many follow-up clinic visits (~21 months).
Provider’s email (11/7/18): “it was never seen until supravista stated elevated psa and list showed 15 in 2/24/17 and 20 now.”
Service Chief’s email: “Of note it was the use of SupraVista that assist the PCP this year with picking this up.”

“In my current role as Interim COS, I … have had the opportunity to utilize SUPRAVISTA while performing a management review of the clinical practice of a Provider. The reports and custom searches that are available in SUPRAVISTA have proven to be of eminence value for this task. Thus saving me hours upon hours of chart review time as well as data analysis and synopsis.
Additionally, the readily available Evidence based Alerts list allows me to focus my review and to readily access relevant information.

Background: Clinicians spend too much time trying to find data in CPRS and order unnecessary tests if they can’t find the needed information quickly.
[The NP…] “She was looking for a colonoscopy report on a pre Kidney Transplant patient and spent about 15 to 20 mins trying to find the report in the patients chart. I used SupraVISTA and we found the colonoscopy report in about 10 secs.”

I am able to print the Huddle Chart review since it’s conveniently has the pertinent data I can share with the patient or PACT members to focus on clinical issues…

I really want to thank you for teaching me Supra Vista. I am a new primary care physician and it is very useful to me. First thing I do when I log in to my computer is opening the supra vista. It is like my wonderful nurse practitioner when I was in private practice. It gives me all alert items on the front screen for every patient and right away and now what I need to do about that patient. It’s lab review tab is amazing– gives me all the information on one-page. And above all view alert and login helper is time and life saver. I can write away open CPRS and Vista imaging as well as I can save a lot of time by signing my notes and orders in one click.

“SupraVISTA has been a truly awesome tool for our users in XXX [VAMC]. It has numerous tools that any of our clinicians can use to facilitate chart review, evaluation of common conditions, and documentation. Displaying abnormal and critical results along with assessing the cardiovascular risk as a coversheet provides a complementary overview along with CPRS. The ability to search for multiple words at the same time in CPRS and DoD records is invaluable and has saved enormous amounts of time. The Task Manager is phenomenal and superior to Tickler Notes for organizing my own tickler/reminder system. Huddle Board summary makes scrubbing so much easier. It is also a great complement to JLV. We are currently working on creating customized contingency plans using the functionality in SupraVISTA. This is the best investment in software we have made. So much more to discover!”

I’ve told my other contacts in other VISNs who have heard about this program but have not had access to it. I’ve told these other Psychiatrists its “a game changer.” … But if you ever want me to talk to Psychiatry in another VISN, I’d be happy to give testimony on how Brillians has improved my quality of work-life and even show them how i use it. I’ve built a high yield template for lab reviews and medication reviews that works very well, and the people that actually use what i’ve built love it.
